DJ Tiesto
b. Tijs Verwest, 17 January 1969, Breda, Netherlands. Tiësto is one of a crop of Dutch and German DJs whose euphoric, melodic style of trance saw their stars rise with the surge in the style's popularity during 1999. Along with Ferry Corsten, Vincent De Moor, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Oliver Lieb, Taucher and others, Tiësto's productions and DJing could be found on numerous compilations and in the major clubs of Europe. He began DJing in a small club in his hometown of Breda at the end of the 80s. Since then he has steadily built an international profile, playing at major festivals, such as Berlin's Love Parade, in Ibiza and at the UK's trance epicentre, Gatecrasher, where he now holds a monthly residency. His success as a producer has been helped by a collaboration with Corsten as Gouryella, who enjoyed two UK hit singles in 1999, and by his remix of Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan's "Silence", which was a UK Top 10 hit and club anthem in 2000. He has also recorded with Armin Van Buuren as Major League and Alibi. He has released numerous mix sets on the Guardian Angel and Black Hole Recordings labels, and made his album debut in July 2002 with the double CD In My Memory
